In Limbo – Birmingham Talks Brexit – RM (Birmingham)
27th January 2018 @ 4:30 am - 6:30 pm GMT
On Saturday, 27 th January 2018, the Roosevelt Movement
UK will be presenting, at the Welcome Café in Erdington, the
book by Elena Remigi that everyone is talking about, titled In
Limbo: Brexit Testimonies from EU citizens in the UK.
The best-seller is a collection of 144 powerful and moving
human stories revolving around as many EU nationals and
the uncertainty of their status resulted from the Brexit
Elena Remigi comments: “I would like to express my deepest
thanks to the Roosevelt Movement for organising this
presentation of In Limbo in such a vibrant and multi-ethnic
community as the suburb of Erdington in Birmingham. I am
aware -and thankful- of how sensitive to the topic of human
rights the Roosevelt Movement is.
With In Limbo -and also Our Brexit Blog- our aim is to give a
voice not only to some of the millions of EU citizens residing
in Britain, but also to some of the Brits with EU families in the
UK and Brits living in the EU, all of whom are now facing an uncertain and insecure future. We intend
the book and the blog to become a primary source for those who want to understand the human
landscape of Brexit Britain.
“We really believe that if we put all our voices together we can make a hell of a lot of noise and show
the world what the true human cost of Brexit is. This is our only chance to reverse the current tide.”
The event will be chaired by Leni Remedios of the Roosevelt Movement UK and will be structured as
such: a presentation of In Limbo by Remigi, which will also include the reading of extracts from the
book, followed by a final Q&A session with the author. The event will be taking place at the Welcome
Café (109 High Street, Erdington, Birmingham, B23 6SA) from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Entry is free.
In Limbo is published by Byline Books (2017) and is available to buy on several websites including
