In Limbo – London Talks About Brexit & Human Rights – RM (London)
24th February 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm GMT
“Off the back of the successful first presentation hosted in Birmingham in January, the Roosevelt Movement will take to London the presentation of the book – from an idea by interpreter and translator Elena Remigi – that everyone is talking about, titled In Limbo: Brexit Testimonies from EU citizens in the UK.
The best-seller, which Remigi co-edited with academics Véronique Martin and Tim Sykes, is a collection of 157 powerful and moving human stories revolving around the distress of EU nationals and the uncertainty of their status resulted from the Brexit referendum.
The presentation of In Limbo will take place at INCA CGIL – Italian Advice Centre (124 Canonbury Road, London N1 2UT) on Saturday, 24th February, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Donations will be accepted on a pay-as-you-feel basis.
The event will be structured as such: a presentation of In Limbo by Elena Remigi, which will also include the reading of extracts from the book, followed by a final Q&A session with the author.
In Limbo is published by Byline Books (2017) and is available to buy on several websites including Amazon UK.
Elena Remigi comments: “I would like to express my deepest thanks to the Roosevelt Movement for organising another presentation of In Limbo following the incredibly high turnout and positive feedback we had at our event in Birmingham last month. I am aware – and thankful, of course – of how sensitive to the topic of human rights the Roosevelt Movement is.
“With In Limbo our aim is to give a voice not only to some of the millions of EU citizens residing in Britain, but also to some of the Brits with EU families in the UK and Brits living in the EU, all of whom are now facing an uncertain and insecure future. We want the book to become a primary source for those who want to understand the human landscape of Brexit Britain.
“We really believe that if we put all our voices together we can make a hell of a lot of noise and show the world what the true human cost of Brexit is. This is our only chance to reverse the current tide.”
